Water Level Notes:

The Lake Travis Relay will be held in depths of 100-200 feet.   Although the water level in Lake Travis is down, there is still approximately 46 miles of Lake Travis that is extremely swimmable. Presently, there is a combined total of 806.000 acre feet of water in Lake Travis & Lake Buchanan.  Please don't let news stories about the drought or record low water levels deter you from swimming this fun event.

LCRA Water Quality Report

How:

Six swimmers per team will each complete a 20-minute leg, then a 15-minute leg, then 10-minute legs until their team has completed the designated course. Swimmers will swim in the same successive order throughout the 15-minute leg and the 10-minute legs as they do in the 20-minute leg.

Male: 72-107, 108-239, 240-299, 300+
Female: 72-107, 108-239, 240-299, 300+
Mixed (3 male & 3 female swimmers): 72-107, 108-239, 240-299, 300+
Open: 6 swimmers of any combination of gender and age

Age
Determination:

The aggregate of the six swimmers' ages as of the day of the swim will determine the team’s age division.
Eligibility:

Adults 18 and older, Youth 12-17. All entrants must be 2011 ASA or ASA U members in good standing.
ASA Membership:

If you are not yet a 2011 A.S.A. registered swimmer, include a check for 2011 A.S.A. membership fee ($23) along with your entry form.
Team Membership:

Team affiliation will not affect affiliation for other events or organizations. Swimmers may affiliate with any team for this event. 
Rules:

2011 ASA Open Water Rules will govern this event. No drafting. No fins, snorkels, heart monitors, wristwatches, pull buoys, floats or any other artificial aids permitted. No tech suits. Please familiarize yourself with ASA Rules.
Boats,
Cell Phone, Stopwatch:

Each team must provide its own escort boat, one stopwatch, and two cell phones. Teams should make boating arrangements early. All teams must have someone 22 years of age or older driving the boat.
Team Identification:

All escort boats are to display a banner or sign on the side of their boat with the team name. Banner or sign must be at least poster board size. Please be prepared with zip ties, rope or whatever it takes to display sign.
Kayakers:

While not required, it is recommended that each team have a kayaker accompanying the swimmer in the water in addition to the escort boat. We recommend that the kayaker accompany the swimmer who is beginning his leg while the escort boat picks up the swimmer who is completing his leg.
Awards

Awards for winning team in each division except the Open Division. No awards for Open Division. Overall winning relay team name and team members' names engraved on Lake Travis Relay perpetual trophy.  First-finishing Solo Swimmer's name engraved on Lake Travis Relay—Solo perpetual plaque.
Mandatory
Captain's
Meeting:

Friday, October 7th, 7pm. Division confirmation, team number, team verification, start and finish procedures, boating procedures and instructions, emergency procedures, caps, t-shirts, and more. Captains must check in by start of meeting.
Solo Swims:

Individual swimmers may submit entries for consideration to do a solo swim for the Lake Travis Relay. (See solo link for solo entry form.)  A maximum of 10 spots will be available for solo swims.

Solo swimmers must meet qualification times to assure completion of the event. Please submit your 2k time for review, (maximum 40 minutes for a 2K) and official results for your longest open water swim completed to date. There will be a 6 1/2 hour cutoff finish time for all solo swimmers. If you are not able to complete a 12 mile distance in 6 1/2 hours, please do not enter.

Solo swimmers must be accompanied by a safety observer (in kayak, canoe, boat).
